My work on this project was Producer, Cinematographer, Sound, Editor and Colourist to capture this very important event – 160 years of Diplomatic Relations between the Mexican and Portuguese Embassies, held at the Tivoli Theatre, Lisbon. It was filmed on Kinefinity Mavo Edge 8k Cinema Camera, Sony FX6 Cinema Camera and Schoeps CMC1 MK41 Microphone.

My role as Producer was working closely with the Client and the Theatre to get the best possible image and sound for Bloomberg which was broadcast in Portugal and the USA. During the event I managed a crew of 3 including 2nd Camera Max Golov, Photographer Nadya Manannikova and Event Coordinator Gastao Travado while I filmed on steady cam. This production was very challenging for a number of reasons. We needed to get interviews with a long list of VIPs and we only had a very small time window to get this completed. During the performance, we were extremely limited where we could place cameras due to the large number of VIPs present at the event. Camera exposure was challenging even with two of the best low light cinema cameras available (10,000 ISO) as the theatre was pitch black and we had long lenses (T2.9).  In post production, because of the broadcast window, delivery had to be super quick. We managed it all and the client was very happy with the results! 🙂

Performances were from Caminho e La Santa Cecilia:

Carminho is one of the greatest voices of fado and one of the Portuguese artists with the greatest international projection. Carminho was born in the midst of guitars and fado voices, daughter of renowned fado singer Teresa Siqueira, and she debuted singing in public at the age of twelve, at the Coliseu. In 2013, Carminho established herself as one of the most international Portuguese artists, taking her voice to the four corners of the world, while being distinguished in Portugal with a Golden Globe and the Carlos Paredes Award, seeing both of her albums achieve the double platinum mark. In 2016, following an invitation addressed by the family of one of the greatest composers in the world, she recorded “Carminho canta Tom Jobim”, with the last band that accompanied him live in his last ten years, sharing themes with Marisa Monte, Chico Buarque and Maria Bethânia. “Carminho sings Tom Jobim” is already platinum and with this album Carminho is awarded the Golden Globe for best performer. https://www.carminhomusic.com/

La Marisoul is the stage name of Marisol Hernández, a Mexican-American singer and songwriter who is best known as the lead vocalist of the Grammy-winning band La Santa Cecilia. She is one of the most prominent voices in Mexican-American music today, creating original and innovative music that transcends borders and genres. https://www.lamarisoul.com/
